Portable Work Light(images 1)

Explosion-proof portable work light

The HB21 series Explosion proof work lights has been developed and manufactured in-house by SeekingLED for use in high-risk explosive atmospheres, such as those found in oil & gas, petrochemical and chemical plants.
It is constructed to Ex d (flameproof) protection, rated IIC T6, and is certified for Zone 1 and Zone 21 (gas) as well as Zone 2 and Zone 22 (dust) by both ATEX and IECEx.
Two power supply options are available:

  • DC 10–50 V (battery) → 15 W, 25 W or 35 W
  • AC 100–277 V → 15 W, 25 W or 40 W

The exploration proof led work lights are lightweight, portable, and comfortable to hold for extended periods. It includes an adjustable mounting bracket for positioning at any angle, a strong magnetic base on selected models for hands-free attachment to steelwork or machinery, and a hook for suspension. These features make it practical in confined spaces, on elevated platforms, inside vessels or underneath pipework.

What is an explosion-proof LED work lights system?

When someone asks what is an explosion-proof led work lights, the answer is straightforward.

It’s a portable lighting unit designed so that if an internal electrical spark or arc occurs, it cannot ignite the surrounding explosive atmosphere.

In the HB21 Series, we use Ex db flameproof protection. That means the enclosure is strong enough to contain any internal explosion and prevent flame propagation outside the housing.

It’s not about stopping explosions in the plant.
It’s about making sure the light doesn’t cause one.

How does explosion proof lighting work?

Many engineers still ask how does explosion proof lighting work in practical terms.

It works through containment and controlled temperature.

  • The enclosure is sealed and mechanically robust.
  • Flame paths cool escaping gases.
  • Surface temperature stays below ignition limits (T6/T5 rating).

For HB21, the rating II 2G Ex db IIC T6/T5 Gb ensures suitability for high-risk gas groups, including hydrogen environments.

It’s physics, not marketing.

Where can explosion proof work lights be used?

The HB21 explosion proof work lights are certified for:

  • Gas: Zone 1 & Zone 2
  • Dust: Zone 21 & Zone 22

Typical applications include:

  • Oil & gas refineries
  • Petrochemical plants
  • Chemical processing facilities
  • Confined vessels
  • Offshore platforms

Portable lighting becomes critical during shutdown maintenance. Fixed lighting doesn’t always reach inside tanks or beneath pipe racks.

That’s where a portable explosion proof work light becomes necessary.

Why choose LED over traditional portable lamps?

An explosion proof led work light provides clear advantages over older halogen-based portable systems:

  • Lower surface temperature
  • Higher energy efficiency (120±5% lm/W in HB21)
  • Longer lifespan (L80B20 >100,000h)
  • Instant full brightness

Halogen units generate excessive heat. In hazardous areas, that’s not ideal.

LED reduces that thermal burden significantly.

What power supply options are available?

HB21 Series offers flexibility.

  • DC 10–50V (battery powered) → 15W / 25W / 35W
  • AC 100–277V → 15W / 25W / 40W

For field maintenance teams, DC battery operation is often preferred. It eliminates dependency on temporary AC distribution inside confined zones.

Flexibility reduces setup time.

Is the light durable enough for industrial handling?

Explosion proof work lights must survive real conditions — not showroom displays.

HB21 features:

  • IP66 & IK10 rating
  • Die-cast aluminum housing
  • -20°C to +55°C operating temperature

In refineries, equipment gets knocked, dropped, exposed to moisture. Lightweight does not mean fragile.

The unit is balanced for portability without sacrificing structural integrity.

How portable is the HB21 series?

Portability is not just about weight. It’s about usability.

HB21 includes:

  • Adjustable mounting bracket
  • Magnetic base (selected models)
  • Suspension hook

When working inside vessels or under pipework, hands-free operation is essential. A led explosion proof work light that requires constant handling defeats its purpose.

Practical mounting options matter.

What certifications does the HB21 explosion proof work light carry?

Certification is critical.

ATEX marking:
II 2G Ex db IIC T6/T5 Gb
II 2D Ex tb IIIC T80°C/T95°C Db

IECEx marking:
Ex db IIC T6/T5 Gb
Ex tb IIIC T80°C/T95°C Db

These certifications ensure compliance across European and international markets.

When inspectors review equipment lists, documentation clarity prevents project delays.

What about light quality?

CRI Ra>80 ensures color clarity in maintenance tasks.
CCT options: 4000K (NW) and 5700K (CW).

In confined maintenance spaces, accurate color rendering helps identify leaks, corrosion, or cable markings.

Brightness alone isn’t enough. Visibility quality matters.

Why choose SEEKINGLED as your explosion proof work lights manufacturer?

SEEKINGLED designs and manufactures explosion proof work lights in-house.

That matters.

We control:

  • Mechanical design
  • Thermal management
  • Driver selection
  • Certification documentation

We don’t rebrand generic housings. The HB21 Series was engineered specifically for high-risk explosive atmospheres.

In hazardous zones, reliability isn’t optional.

It’s expected.
