SEEKINGLED FLD Series Project Case
Outdoor basketball courts in Europe are often used well into the evening, especially in community sports parks and school facilities. In the Czech Republic, one such basketball court faced common nighttime lighting problems: uneven brightness, dark corners near the sidelines, and limited visibility during fast-paced play.
In 2024, the court operator decided to upgrade the existing lighting system to improve safety and playing comfort after sunset. The goal was not simply to increase brightness, but to achieve more balanced illumination across the entire court while keeping energy consumption under control.
After evaluating several options, SEEKINGLED FLD Series LED flood lights, model XJ-FLD480W, were selected for the project.
Basketball courts place specific demands on lighting. Players move quickly, track the ball in mid-air, and rely on clear visual contrast. Shadows, glare, or uneven light distribution can affect performance and increase the risk of injury.
LED flood lights are well suited for this environment. Compared with traditional metal halide systems, they offer faster response, stable output, and better control over beam direction. For this court, the FLD Series provided a strong, wide beam that covered the playing area evenly without creating harsh hotspots.
The 480W configuration offered enough output to illuminate the full court while keeping the number of fixtures at a reasonable level.
Once installed, the difference was immediately noticeable. The court achieved uniform brightness across both the central playing area and the perimeter zones, including the key and baseline areas where lighting is often weakest.
The improved illumination made it easier for players to follow the ball, judge distance, and move confidently at night. From a safety perspective, better visibility reduced blind spots and uneven contrast, creating a more comfortable environment for recreational and competitive play.
Importantly, the lighting performance remained consistent throughout extended evening use, with no visible flicker or sudden output changes.
Beyond visual improvement, energy efficiency was a key factor for the court operator. The FLD Series LED flood lights consume significantly less power than older outdoor lighting systems, while delivering higher usable light output.
This resulted in:
For a public sports facility with regular nighttime operation, these factors translate directly into lower long-term operating costs.
This basketball court project demonstrates how LED flood light technology can upgrade outdoor sports spaces without overcomplicating installation. The FLD Series provided a practical balance between brightness, uniformity, and efficiency, making it suitable for community-level sports courts as well as larger recreational areas.
For SEEKINGLED, the project adds another real-world example to its growing portfolio of sports stadium LED lighting, alongside LED high bay lights, LED street lights, garden lights, tri-proof lamps, linear LED lights, and explosion proof lighting solutions.
Rather than focusing on specifications alone, this installation shows how well-designed lighting directly improves user experience on the court.
