In a spray paint booth, lighting is never just a “make it bright” decision — it’s a serious safety and compliance matter.
The answer is clear: Yes, you absolutely need proper explosion-proof lights.
Spray painting releases a lot of flammable solvent vapors (like toluene and xylene), which means the inside of the booth is typically classified as a Zone 1 (gas) or Zone 21 (dust) hazardous area. Ordinary lights can easily create sparks, overheat, or fail in ways that ignite those vapors — a risk no one wants to take.
That’s why regulations are strict: European ATEX directives (2014/34/EU and 1999/92/EC), IECEx, and similar standards all require certified explosion-proof lighting in these zones. Using non-certified lights can lead to failed inspections, fines, work stoppages, or even insurance claims being rejected.
This is exactly why we created the SEEKINGLED LO Series Linear Explosion-Proof Lights:
ATEX & IECEx certified for Zone 1 & Zone 21 (II 2G Ex db IIB T6 Gb + II 2D Ex tb IIIC T80℃ Db)
Smooth, easy-to-clean surface — paint overspray doesn’t stick easily
IP69K + IK10 protection, highly resistant to corrosion and impact
20W / 40W / 60W / 80W options, with emergency backup available
150lm/W high efficiency and long lifespan — a great upgrade from old explosion-proof fluorescent tubes
Whether you’re building a new booth or upgrading an old one, the LO Series delivers better safety and much easier maintenance.
Safety and compliance aren’t extra costs — they’re the smartest way to protect your team and your business.
If you work with spray booths, industrial coating, or factory projects, I’d love to hear from you. What lighting challenges are you dealing with these days? Drop your thoughts in the comments 👇
