Sports Stadium LED Lighting at University of Mississippi Rugby Field

News LED Light Project 2380

At the University of Mississippi, the rugby field had old metal halide lights—160 units of 1000W and 40 units of 600W—mounted at 9 meters. Over time, these lights became less efficient, and uniformity across the field was a concern.

SEEKINGLED proposed a replacement plan using XJ-HBS240W-2 LED High Bay Lights. The idea was to maintain existing pole positions and improve both brightness and energy efficiency. In total, the installation included 160 units of 240W high bays and 40 units of 100W high bays.

During the project, the client raised a concern about glare. Rugby players need to track the ball overhead, so visual comfort is critical. To address this, frosted glass covers were used on all high bays. After installation, on-site measurements showed the field reaching roughly 600 lux—bright, but consistent across the surface.

The university later requested illumination for the side flag areas. SEEKINGLED adapted the plan and installed 32 units of 150W LED Flood Lights, specifically angled to cover these zones without affecting the main field lighting.

The combination of high bay and flood LED lights delivered practical results: better visibility, lower energy use, and minimal maintenance. The client noted improvements in field uniformity and player comfort.

This project highlights how Sports Stadium LED Lighting solutions using LED High Bay Light and LED Flood Light can be implemented in large sports areas—meeting performance needs without major structural changes or high energy costs.
